At LR Auto Workshop & Service Centre, we are committed to protecting the privacy of our staff, customers, and workshop environment. To maintain a secure and respectful workspace, we follow a strict dash‑cam and in‑vehicle recording device policy for all vehicles booked into our workshop.
Why This Policy Exists
Dash cams can record audio and video inside the workshop, which may compromise staff privacy, customer confidentiality, and the security of our operational processes. To ensure a safe and compliant environment, recording inside the workshop is not permitted.
Our Dash Cam Procedure
- All dash cams and in‑vehicle recording devices will be switched off, covered, or disconnected during inspections, diagnostics, and repairs.
- LR Auto Workshop & Service Centre provides suitable covers where needed.
- Devices are only uncovered or reconnected after all work is completed and the vehicle is ready for collection.
This procedure is a standard condition of service for all bookings.
Customer Acknowledgement
By leaving your vehicle with us, you acknowledge and accept that:
- Dash cams will be disabled or covered while your vehicle is in our care.
- LR Auto Workshop & Service Centre is not liable for loss of footage, data corruption, or device malfunction.
- Any footage recorded inside the workshop — whether intentional or accidental — may not be used, shared, or published without our written consent.
Refusal of Service
LR Auto Workshop & Service Centre reserves the right to decline service if a customer does not agree to the dash cam being disabled or covered.
Policy Enforcement
- All LR Auto Workshop & Service Centre staff are trained on this policy.
- Customers who violate this policy may be refused future service.
- The policy is reviewed annually to ensure alignment with South African privacy expectations and industry best practice.
